ARCS

ARCS is a reactive Augmented Reality sound device exploring the invisible electromagnetic fields that are emitted by the mass of electronic devices that surround us. The work invites participants to scan a range of devices using a smartphone app and custom handheld sensor that both visualises and sonifies these emanating electromagnetic waves in a real-time AR experience. Whilst often playful and explorative, the work simultaneously seeks to highlight our exposure to these invisible waves.
Through the hybridisation of analogue sensors and AR technologies, the work intends to interrogate the often seemless experience of digital technology through employing a DIY ethic and hardware hacking methodology.
